These are the horror stories to feature in Ellen Datlow's Years Best Fantasy and Horror 2006. A big fat woohoo to the Aussies on the list: Terry Dowling, Margo Lanagan (twice!), Lee Battersby and Kaaron Warren. Margo's 'A Pig's Whisper' is from Agog! Ripping Reads so I'm pretty chuffed about that.

That's fantastic! A great year for Australian SF/Fantasy - it will be good to see those stories in print!

Is this Agog's first appearance in Year's Best? Well done, Cat. I don't know what the Americans will make of a Pig's Whisper, though... should be be doling out copies of the source material???

Hi Tansy,

Agog stories have scored well in both Hartwell and Kramers and Datlow/Link/Grant's years bests over the last few years. Simon Bwown's Water Babies was in a previous Datlow/Link/Grant, Garth Nix's Read it in the Headlines and Sean McMullen's The Cascade were in recent Hartwell & Kramer volumes. And Duffy's Louder Echo.

Pig's Whisper will be printed with a para about the source material.

Oh, most definitely! Never thought I'd crack that ToC, so it was wonderful news when Ellen told me.
