I'm not normally in the habit of blogging unflattering photos of myself in my underwear, but I thought this one was appropriate as we are off to Fiji tomorrow to visit kaaronwarren and her family. This snap was taken ten or so years ago, either on Matamanoa island or somewhere up the Whitsundays. I like it cos it has a certain touch of the vibe of those nude writer pix from the 60s that  andrewmacrae was blogging awhile back.

Wherever I was, it was tropical and I was working on the first novel I ever managed to finish all the way to the end. Unfortunately, the damn thing totally sucked. If someone had told me then that it would be over ten years till I managed to complete another one I probably would have cried.

Only when it is summer or daylight. Deserts tend to get cold at night, especially this far inland. It will often be in the 20s during the day, but drop to around 0 at night.

But you never need to worry about getting wet, so beanies are perfect. Alice ia very much a beanie town.

It is odd that you can go from shorts at midday to beanie and woolies at night.
